Because hardware is a new business area, launched approx. 2 years ago, there will be room for influencing the whole value chain from product strategy, the portfolio to the actual solutions that are presented to the market.


The Product Management team

The Product Management team in Milestone Systems is pivotal in carrying out the company and product strategy. As a member of this team you will have profound impact on the future success of the company and your findings and decisions will have a great impact on the market for VMS and NVR – as well as many people in the company and in the Milestone Open Community. The team is a large handful of very skilled senior colleagues.


Product portfolio and lifecycle management and define a vision for the future

You are expected to define the "WHY" and the business case for new products, new product features and product changes. This spans from idea generation, validation, conceptualizing, defining requirements, prioritization and execution through R&D and Product Marketing. Prior to this, you have analyzed and identified trends in the competitive technology landscape within Video Management Software (VMS), Network Video Recorder (NVR) and related technologies, as well as collected and structured input from partners and customers.

You will be responsible for driving hardware product initiatives from inception through launch and iterations. To succeed, you will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, product marketing, analysts, and colleagues from global teams covering Americas, EMEA, and APAC to ensure that products amaze and delight users.


Primary job responsibilities

  • Carry out company and product strategy with your relentless focus on providing the right products and product updates at the right time and in the right manner
  • Own the successful delivery of product initiatives, execution, and releases
  • Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements and constraints for product initiatives and releases
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to iterate product requirements based on constraints during implementation as well as insights and feedback from customers
  • Perform market research and analysis.
  • Travel approx. 15 days yearly visiting customers and attending conferences.


Product Manager with a technical understanding and commercial mindset

The role requires the ability to understand all the elements of hardware product lifecycle management and excel in the commercial areas such as strategy and go-to-market while having a good understanding of the technical aspects of planning and developing new hardware products. The role requires sufficient technical understanding to ask R&D critical questions, analyze the answers and come to conclusions, when it comes to platforms, solutions, micron and others. Other professional skills include:

  • A minimum of 5 years of product management experience, experience with hardware (the security industry and video is an advantage or hardware industry incl. design, planning and sourcing).
  • Relevant academic credentials (computer or electrical engineering degree is preferable).
  • Product lifecycle management understanding and excel in commercial areas such as strategy and go-to-market while having a good understanding of the technical aspects of planning and developing new products.
  • Experience with turning technical features into messaging, value propositions, and competitive advantages.
  • Experience mapping the competitive landscape to derive price point targets.
  • You speak and write English effortlessly.
