Hudson Marketing is excited to be working exclusively with Birmingham Metropolitan College – BMet – in the search for a Communications and Marketing Manager. This brand new role reports to the Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment and is key to the ongoing development, growth and success of the BMet colleges in Birmingham and the Black Country. BMet has around 25,000 students across a number of sites, and is one of the biggest colleges in the country.

The successful applicant will develop the communications and marketing strategy, liaising with senior stakeholders across the organisation in the process, and deputising for the Director in respect of communications and marketing as and when required. The role offers a broad remit with a particular focus on the development and delivery of effective, proactive and forward thinking PR, communications and social media activity, in each case to; raise the profile of the college, attract new students for its further education, higher education and apprenticeship courses, and engage with existing/prospective students and their parents. The Communications and Marketing Manager will manage a team, overseeing and managing the delivery of campaigns, projects and day to day communications and marketing, ensuring all activity is delivered on time, within budget and to an exceptionally high standard.

As such, we’re keen to hear from applicants from any sector, but particularly those who can demonstrate success in engaging younger audiences.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in communications and marketing with a successful track record of developing and delivering effective, innovative social media and PR activity
  • Experience of building strong links with local and regional media
  • A degree and/or professional qualification in communications, marketing, PR or other related subject
  • Highly effective, well-rounded people management experience
  • Strong commercial acumen including an ability to analyse and evaluate communications and marketing activity to improve performance and ROI
  • Budget management experience
  • Embraced and driven change in their previous roles.

The role is based at James Watt campus in Great Barr, but will require regular travel to other campuses and sites in the Birmingham and Black Country region.
