A fantastic opportunity has arisen with one of the UK’s greatest Universities for a Compliance Advisor.

The University of Glasgow has ambitious plans for the expansion of the campus and by 2025 will have invested over £1bn in facilities, transforming the campus and supporting the University’s ambition to be a world changing University. The University is increasing it’s footprint on the city by 25%. An area covering 14 acres of land next to our Gilmorehill campus is in possession and planning is underway to create a campus for the 21st century. 


A fundamental strand of the wider plan is the provision of a high-quality Estates Operations service to staff and students. The University is entering a momentous chapter in their history, one that will transform their teaching, learning and research spaces.


As the Compliance Advisor, you will provide professional advice and support in relation to the achievement of the Directorates Strategic objectives in respect of safety and compliance management.  You will also provide key specialist support to all Construction, Project management and Technical Services staff relating to construction safety including review of safety plans, development of procedures and administration of permit to work systems.


You will be responsible  for ensuring that construction safety and general safety is proactively managed and activities coordinated to achieve statutory compliance and in accordance with relevant legislation.

You will also support the implementation of the risk management programme across the Directorate. You will help to develop and operate processes and procedures to ensure continued compliance with legislation, approved Codes of practice and best practice guidelines.


To be eligible for this position, you must have a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent including professional accreditation with relevant formal training. A Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate). An in depth knowledge of health and safety legislation reflected by the level of experience required for this role.


A comprehensive knowledge of safety management systems and implementation of risk management principles. A good working knowledge of safety and environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001 & 45001) and implementation.
