Role: Corporate Development Manager
Company: The Weir Group PLC – FTSE 250 Global Engineering Group
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Depending on Experience, plus up to 30% annual bonus

Weir is an inclusive and innovative organisation where you can be your authentic self. We continually develop our talent and diversity of thought to keep our business relevant, innovative and successful for the future.

Enabling our people to unleash their full potential is central to ‘We are Weir’, our vision, mission, and strategic priorities. We aim to be the most admired engineering business in our markets and we'll achieve that ambition by being the employer of choice in our markets.

Role Overview

The Corporate Development function sits within the Weir Group head office, based in Glasgow, and has an active role in the strategic direction and development of the Group, both through strategic planning and also the delivery of key M&A projects.

The team is now looking to grow through the recruitment of a Corporate Development Manager. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Development, the successful candidate will have a key role in: the end-to-end delivery of M&A projects; the preparation of strategic plans; and other ad-hoc M&A projects. Working as part of a small talented team, this is a varied project based role where you will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders. The role incorporates:

  • M&A project management;
  • Acquisition, divestment and joint venture implementation;
  • Review and analysis of acquisition targets / investment opportunities;
  • Preparation of investment proposals;
  • Financial modelling;
  • Business / investment valuations;
  • Input into due diligence scoping and review;
  • Input into transaction structuring;
  • Relationship building with external advisors and internal stakeholders;
  • Preparation of Board and Group Executive reports and submissions;
  • Involvement in strategic planning;
  • Monitoring and review of peer company performance;
  • Working alone and as part of a team, dealing with senior managers, external advisors, and managing wider deal teams (cross-geographical / cross-divisional);
  • Integration planning; and
  • Post-acquisition reviews

To be considered for this opportunity you will be a self-starter with a strong track record in managing and delivering end-to-end M&A projects. Whilst experience within the energy markets would be advantageous, it is not considered essential.

This is a unique Scottish based opportunity to work for a leading global FTSE 250 Group in an M&A focused role, with both significant opportunities for development and exposure to senior management.
