The role:

Reporting directly to the Deputy Company Secretary and working closely with the Compliance function, the Data Protection Officer will advise and support internal stakeholders, taking the lead on a wide variety of data protection matters with a key focus on the DPA and the GDPR.

Additionally you will support the Group’s global Compliance  programme on wider issues including anti-bribery and corruption and modern slavery issues.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on GDPR implementation and support across the Group
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all data protection law, providing guidance to the Group’s operations as and when required
  • Supporting on data privacy aspects of social media and wider marketing initiatives
  • Maintaining and rolling out all relevant data protection policies and procedures and delivering training to internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the Compliance Manager on global projects and wider corporate policies

The ideal candidate will have at least two years post qualification experience in data protection,  either a qualified Solicitor or an industry compliance expert who has developed the data protection exposure and interest.

You will be comfortable  advising senior leaders on data security, policy advice and subject access requests and have a genuine commerciality when giving clear business-focused guidance.  

Experience of broader compliance and governance matters is desirable but not necessary.

With strong communication and relationship building skills, you will be highly motivated, proactive and be keen to take the lead on business-critical matters across the Group’s global operations.
