Hudson is currently recruiting for this high profile Financial Services client based in Edinburgh who are keen to secure a talented Operational Risk Manager for its growing organisation

Your role will be responsible for providing advice, oversight and challenge on the setting and implementation of risk appetite, policies, processes & systems across the business.

You'll develop strategies and plans to achieve business objectives and work with stakeholders, often at a senior level, to embed risk knowledge and adherence.

You'll produce options and recommendations that support strategic, usually complex decision making and have an active role representing their risk specialism on projects, frequently liaising with third parties.

As an Operational Risk Manager, you will be a key member of the Operational Risk team operating in the second line of defence, and will lead the development and maintenance of the Operational Risk framework across the business in line with regulatory expectations and best practice. The role holder will provide effective oversight and reporting of major operational risks to the Risk Executive and to Board.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Risk Framework

Accountable for the development and maintenance of the operational risk framework in line with regulatory expectations and best practise and embedding it across the business.

  • Risk Appetite

Monitor operational risk policies, processes and systems so these are managed within the appetite approved by the Board. Provide operational risk input to the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process. (ICAAP)

  • Risk Management

Ensure an effective and value added Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA) process is developed and maintained.

Ensure operational risk events are escalated in line with policy and carry our root cause analysis to gather insight and make recommendations for change.

 

  • Governance

Monitor the performance of the business and provide early warning of adverse risk trends and emerging risks. Produce cost benefit analysis of options and alternatives. Produce consistent and accurate reports for senior leaders and the Executive and for reporting to Risk Management Committee, the Operational Risk, Conduct & Compliance Committee and to the Board.

  • Stakeholder/relationship management

Maintain strong relationships with line managers, the Senior Leadership Team and Risk Leadership Team.

 

 

  • Leadership & communication

Be a respected authority on operational risk to guide and influence senior colleagues, including business leaders, RLT & SLT.

  • Leadership & communication

Subject matter expert to all areas of the business and maintains and shares a high level of knowledge of developments in their specialism.

 

 

 

  • Strategic direction/direction setting

Subject matter expert to all areas of the business and maintains and shares a high level of knowledge of developments in their specialism.

 

 

 


     

 

I am ideally looking individuals with the following experience

  • Significant experience in designing, implementing and operating an operational risk framework and regarded as a subject matter expert in Operational Risk, companywide
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment surrounding financial products
  • Strong commercial orientation and a lateral thinker with proven ability to undertake diverse projects.
  • Flexible in approach and comfortable with working in a changing environment.
