The Planned Preventative Maintenance Planner will be a key member of the Building Services team, reporting to the Compliance Manager.  This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining planned maintenance programmes and associated procedures and schedules of mechanical, electrical and building installations to ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is carried out at the correct intervals, standards, and that statutory maintenance requirements are met within approved budgets.

Job Purpose:

  • Preparation of computer based planned maintenance programmes (CAFM) indicating both planned and completed maintenance including statutory compliance. Advise on the resources to maintain the University Estate to an acceptable standard including using condition surveys to adequately prioritise work activities.
  • Manage PPM data to provide a 3-year rolling programme, manipulating cyclic data and averaging out expenditure to suit a 1-year recurrent budget for all the building stock throughout the University. 
  • Assist with the preparation of planned maintenance procedures, including detailed work activities, to allow internal and external providers to carry out maintenance with appropriate consideration of H&S requirements.
  • Assist with the development of an asset register database, including the collection of data, and contribute to the integration of a suitable IT platform and systems of work.  Ensure all records are kept up to date and all maintenance assets are correctly labelled including site surveys and implementing labelling where required.

You will be working with your Building Services colleagues to analyse data from maintenance programmes, conditional surveys, and inspections to inform maintenance priorities and investment both short and long term.

You will assist Building Services Engineers and Building Surveyors with the development of work activities, frequency and standards of maintenance programmes.

You will contribute to the most effective direction of work between in-house maintenance resource and external contractors in relation to planned maintenance and statutory compliance to meet the needs of the University.

Suitable candidates must have a recognised technical qualification to SVQ or HNC level, with a proven track record in the creating, scheduling, and management of planned maintenance programmes, including a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory regulations relating to Building and Engineering maintenance.

You will have thorough practical knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and working experience of SFG20.

You will be computer literate with a wide range of computer based systems (CAFM) used in the management of estates services and proficient in the use of general IT systems with a particular emphasis on PPM programmes, spreadsheets and databases.
