Hudson is proud to be exclusively recruiting for Brunel College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences, part of Brunel University London, a medium sized research-intensive university based in Uxbridge, West London

This role reports to the Facilities Manager for Brunel College of Business Arts and Social Sciences. You will be required to shape this newly created role to help meet the ambition of the evolving services team in delivering high level technical, facility and operational support for College events, relocations and space management; facilities and services in line with compliance legislation and University policy.

This new role is a fantastic opportunity to work with an existing team to continue to help and build the service offering to be delivered, and provide team leadership to IT Technicians for the delivery of projects such as relocations, operational and technical activities.

 

Main duties

  • Oversee workshop and related operational activities to ensure task ownership and completion.
  • Work with the Facilities Manager and IT Manager to ensure correct and effective processes

    are followed for task management and reporting.

  • Manage and implement projects under direction of and supported by Facilities Manager and/or
  • IT Manager.
  • Produce management reporting, proposals, business cases and other documentation for

    senior management.

  • Performing installation, configuration, upgrading, repair and maintenance of equipment,

    software, peripherals, infrastructure and related systems.

  • Provide front-line technical support, training to staff, students & visitors in the use of specialist

    lab equipment, computers, software packages, photocopying, printing and AV equipment.

  • Delivering services in line with compliance legislation and University policy including

    conducting Display Screen Equipment assessments, following the requirements of the Data

    Protection Act, provide relevant data for financial, safety, legal or other audits and any other

    relevant compliance-related requirements.

  • Providing general operational and technical support as appropriate including relocations,

    space management, asset disposal and support events such as open days, inductions and

    graduations.

  • Liaise with central services of the university to coordinate the provision of operational services

    and support as required.

  • To deputise for the Facilities Manager as required.

Person Specification

A degree in a Technical subject or equivalent professional qualification.

 

Experience

  • Working in a customer facing technical support environment
  • Managing and delivering technical projects
  • Working in a team leading role
  • Providing technical support in an education environment
  • Conducting equipment and software audits
  • Installing, configuring and repairing digital media equipment/software

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiar with Windows and OSX computer operating platforms, hardware and software application packages
  • Customer focused and service delivery mindset
  • Familiar with Audio Visual and general office equipment
  • Calm manner and clear communicator
  • Knowledge of digital media systems
