Contribute to the site's human resources function by playing an advisory role and demonstrating influential leadership by providing expertise in various HR fields, such as performance management, recruitment of staff and unionized employees, hiring and onboarding, absenteeism management, labor relations, organizational development, training needs assessment and benefits to assigned business units to achieve superior health and safety performance and deliver world-class HR services to build a high-performance workforce.
Responsibilities: (People)

* Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, and support the Health & Safety program.
* Maintain a site-wide communications program to inform, motivate and engage all concerned.
* Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations.
* Provide expertise and advice to the site management and employees to help them achieve their business objectives.
* Assist in the performance management, talent development and succession planning processes to meet needs for competence across the site workforce.
* Assist and coach managers and supervisory teams in the day to day challenges pertaining to employee management as well as the application of HR policies and programs.
* Identify and ensure a systematic approach to training, coaching and mentoring for both staff and unionized employees.
* Report to the Manager, Human Resources, Kapuskasing Operations.

Responsibilities: (Operations)

* Understand fully the collective agreement, communicate its essentials to ensure correct interpretation, and monitor operations to ensure consistent application.
* Support management and supervisors in administration of disciplinary matters.
* Manage the grievance process, prepare for and participate in arbitration procedures and collective bargaining, and work with law firms as required.
* Collaborate in the collective agreement renewal process.
* Support and participate in the recruitment and hiring process.
* Lead and participate in the onboarding program for new and seasonal employees.
* Conduct exit interviews with employees who are leaving the Company.
* Assist and support all return-to-work (RTW) initiatives.
* Stay informed on all developments related to Human Resources and make recommendations to advance the site's interests.
* Work collaboratively with the site team as an experienced HR and organizational effectiveness professional, and participate in special projects as assigned.
* Serve as the company's representative on various joint committees.


* Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources or industrial relations.
* Experience: 6 to 12 years' experience in an industrial unionized environment, with proven management experience.
* Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
* Leadership and strong influence skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
* Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)/ Certified Industrial Relations Counsellor (CIRC) designation is an asset.
* Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written) - preference will be given to English.
