senior Commercial & Marketing position for established pharmaceutical multinational

Formulate marketing strategy in order to meet overall company objectives. Responsible for the direction, the control and the roll-out of all marketing activities and maximise opportunities available in the market in order to increase sales, profitability, company and brand image. Ensure proper sales management of its region through Coaching, Territory Management, Performance Management, Sales Force Effectiveness and Training. To ensure achievement of defined sales objectives for its region.




A. Strategy & Planning


  • Initiate, develop, recommend and get acceptance for the marketing strategy in line with the company strategy and policies in order to meet Corporate/Local targets
  • Develop, defend and execute (and, where necessary, adjust) an annual marketing plan for the brand’s portfolio development, volumes and market shares targets as well as Advertising & Promotion investments
  • Participate in setting objectives and strategies for business development and regular planning and reporting process.


B. Market Observation


  • Carry-out target-oriented market observation concerning competitors evolution, brands and segments, trends etc. in close collaboration with the company's corporate and external agencies.
  • Analyses market trends and develops product positioning and growth strategy
  • Identify market opportunities to grow volume and market share. Ensure appropriate business planning


C. (Trade) marketing management


  • Responsible for proposing, designing and executing the necessary marketing campaigns and communications to develop the performance of company brands within different (distribution) channels, with particular focus on areas such as conferences, symposia,
  • Develop constructive professional relations with the various external clients, and in particular work closely with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) in the field of the brand portfolio to acquire their active support for the product strategy and the marketing campaigns
  • Acquire, maintain and share with others, product and professional expertise via contacts with KOL and experts via scientific literature
  • Responsible for the monthly sales forecasting of the assigned brand portfolio


D. Sales management


  • Plan the major activities related to the achievement of company objectives (activities, frequency, coverage plan…) based on the guidelines defined with the Country Manager. Support the rep in the development of a regional (territory) action plan for its region. Validate and to supervise if achievements of regional action plan of each sales reps are in line with the objectives set and bring the ROI expected.
  • Drive and lead its team to achieve and to exceed the sales targets whilst maintaining the company values and ethical code of conduct. Analyse and monitor closely the realisation of the various targets (objectives, targeting, frequency...) of each member of his team and to propose corrective actions if needed
  • Accompany all reps in the field on a regular basis in order to ensure the compliance of the marketing strategy, targeting, scientific product knowledge and key messages. Support, coach and provide (written) feedback after each accompanied day on the sales principles and on the implementation and follow-up of the SFE principles


E. Reporting


  • Monitor and report on a regular basis on brand’s performance, company's activities and competitors development


F. Agencies & Suppliers management


  • Monitor external suppliers in terms of budget, service, quality and deadlines on a regular basis


G. Organisation & People


  • Work closely together with Corporate Marketing to ensure alignment to CorporateMarketing plans, company standards and policies
  • Train (new) sales staff in products, markets and competitors
  • Ensure alignment and compliance of sales force with company strategy policies, procedures and company's values
  • To manage, to coach, to train and to develop team members to achieve sales objectives




  • You hold a Bachelor (Master or equivalent through experience): Economics, Pharmacy, Marketing, Sciences etc.
  • You hold min. 5 years' experience as product manager, Gastro/WHC/Uro is a plus. Strong scientific knowledge.
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch and English
  • You are  convincing, inspiring, creative, flexible, consensus-driven, good communicator (orally and in writing) combining expertise with the ability to present matters simply, team player, good negotiator and sales person, logical, highly available, contact skills (including with opinion leaders), mature.
  • You are familiar with the various influence makers in the pharmaceutical industry, such as insurance companies
