FM Client Side - West of Scotland

Our client is currently looking for a Environmental, Health & Safety and Facilities Officer for their site in Glasgow

This is a contract position on a part time / full time basis.

Job Purpose

To focus on writing and documenting how we operate and what controls are required to meet minimum safety standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a formal Environmental and Health and Safety system within the company, certified to ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 respectively. Monitor and advise management on the performance of the EHS management system,
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Company’s EHS auditing function with external auditors, regulatory auditing bodies and or/customers.
  • Promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all company
  • Ensure that Local Policy Statements/Fire Plans and Fire Risk Assessments are produced, reviewed and maintained
  • Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies
  • Review and develop health and safety policies, procedures and guidance, in keeping with best practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
  • Provide, or where necessary source, training for staff in relation to Health and Safety policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary

Knowledge, Qualification &Skills

  • HND, Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Occupational EHS discipline, Science or Engineering is desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum, NEBOSH Certification level 3 qualification is desirable
  • Experience as an EHS Officer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of H&S legislation and Environmental systems (ISO 14001and OHSAS18001).
  • Able to provide detailed audit reports, with relevant required preventive and corrective measures
  • Competent in implementation, development and maintenance of EHS Management Systems
