A fantastic, newly created role for a qualified Accountant in Selkirk looking to broaden their skill-set within a great organisation, initial 18 month contract

Hudson have been retained exclusively by the Scottish Borders Housing Association to recruit a Finance Co-coordinator to join the business in newly created role & team.

SBHA itself is the 4th largest Housing Association in Scotland with over 5600 homes. This year the turnover grew by 4.6% to £21.9m, mainly from rental income, with revenue grants of £302,000 to support adaptations, employability and fuel poverty projects.

The businesses key purpose is to provide the best possible service for its tenants and this is driven from top to bottom throughout the organisation.

The role itself will form part of a new team within Finance which will have strong a focus on Systems, Risk and Compliance. Finance is not only going through a re-structure but is also looking to implement a new Finance System to replace Sage 200. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role will play an integral part of the implementation process and will be a visible position throughout the business.

The core finance team produce the Financial and Management Accounts as well as all the transactional finance for the organisation. Supporting this team during busy periods will also be a key part of the role hence the position requires an individual seeking a broad remit and the ability to embrace a changing/dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Lead for the implementation of the new finance system
  • Responsibility for Risk and Compliance within finance creating robust processes and controls to ensure high quality outcomes for the business
  • Main point of contact for Internal and External Auditors
  • Dealing with VAT returns
  • Analysis around ‘Value for Money’ throughout the organisation
  • Responsible for line management of the Finance Officer within the team (a position that we’re also recruiting for the business)
  • Supporting with the production of Financial, Management Accounts, Budgeting and Rent Accounting
  • Supporting a wider Change Programe within the organisation


  • Qualified level Accountant
  • Good understanding of Financial and Management Accounting.
  • You don’t have to be Systems or Risk & Compliance expert but you must have a desire to expand your skill-set into these area’s
  • Must be confident communicator as you will be dealing with stakeholders within operations and on a number of occasions will be the finance representative
  • You must be able to work within an environment of Change, where no two days are the same and goal posts
